This site was developed for Eduardo Graca, a Brazilian journalist based in New York. The design is completely custom, created by William Morrisey. Michael Fields handled the impressive jquery on the fading images. The theme is HTML5, built of Toolbox. View it in Firefox 4, Safari, or Chrome to see all the CSS3 effects.

Corporate Valuations

The Corporate Valuations website was built off the Station Theme by Woo Themes. Every time I customize one of their templates I am impressed by the quality work they do and attention to detail. And because it was such a solid design to start with, we could really spend time focusing on the content and modifications we wanted to make.

To start with, I customized the background and sidebars to make it more personalized. In the sidebar I turned a photo of the employees into a “Request Quote” button. I also used the cForms plug-in so that potential clients could easily request quotes.

In terms of SEO, google lists them as number one for “corporate valuations” and number two for “business appraisal portland oregon”- which is probably the two most important searches for their target market.

Eco Roofs Everywhere

Ecoroofs Everywhere is a terrific company that designs and builds sustainable living roofs in the Northwest. When we first started talking about design possibilities they sent me some amazing photos of their projects. I instantly decided to showcase these on their home page and build the site around them.

Elegant Themes had a great template with ePhoto which already had strong structure and the photo slider. Instead of completely coding from scratch, I used this as a base to save time and the client money. The redesigned look went for brighter and more organic feel.

Historic Garden League

The Historic Garden League is a non-profit in Monterey, California dedicated to preserving historic gardens in the area. We decided to use WordPress as a content management tool so that the organization could easily add photos of their gardens, update their members about events, and change the content on their site.

For me, the most exciting part of this web site was the huge amount of photos the Garden League was able to supply of their work. I tried to feature as many of these as I could on the site, which led to using a rotating image gallery on the front page.

A great logo had already been created, and although it was a difficult size to fit in the header, I featured it on the front page and mirrored the logo image in the background at the top and bottom of every page on the site.

This theme was completely custom, designed from the ground up in Photoshop, built into valid XHTML/CSS, and then diced into WordPress.

Getaway Adventures

Getaway Adventures is a tour operator based out of Napa, California. This site was dramatically redesigned in December of 2007, and within weeks site traffic had doubled due to better search engine rankings.

This site features a blog, an xml flash banner on the home page, and a secure online reservation form.

In February of 2009, the site was converted into a WordPress theme.
